Choose the development approach from the business workflow, device needs and maintenance arrangement.
Document the business journey before choosing a framework
List the users, tasks, data and approvals the app must support. Include the staff process behind customer actions, such as receiving an order or approving a booking. Record offline needs, notifications and device capabilities. Android, iOS and cross-platform choices should follow these requirements. A shared codebase is a delivery consideration, not proof that every platform-specific requirement is automatically covered.
Include the backend and integrations in the scope
Identify the systems the app reads from or updates, including CRM, ERP, payments and inventory. Define account roles, permission checks and error handling. Record which supplier owns each API and how its availability affects the app. A customer interface can look complete while the operational workflow remains unfinished. Require representative end-to-end acceptance scenarios in the proposal.
Plan testing across real devices and conditions
Choose supported devices and operating-system assumptions using current platform documentation. Test sign-in, interruptions, slow connectivity and the permissions requested by the app. Include the business owner in acceptance of important transactions. Distinguish emulator tests from testing on representative hardware. Keep an issue register that explains business impact and the decision on unresolved limitations.
Own the product after the first release
Use company-controlled developer accounts, source access and backend administration. Agree responsibility for store submissions, platform changes, security updates and support. Budget for monitoring and maintenance rather than assuming development ends at launch. Review accessibility and privacy requirements in the actual release scope. The handover should let the business maintain its product even if the development supplier changes.
