Prepare practical response routes for suspicious requests, unexpected device behaviour and supplier-related security events.
Treat unusual business requests as a process problem
An urgent payment instruction or access request can be convincing without being genuine. Agree an independent verification route using contact details already held by the business. Staff should know who can approve exceptions and where to report a suspicious request. An AI-generated voice or message does not change the need to verify authority before transferring money or granting access.
Investigate unexplained device activity carefully
A suddenly busy processor, unusual network traffic or an unfamiliar program can have several causes. Record the symptoms and involve authorised IT support. Cryptojacking is one possible explanation, not a diagnosis from slow performance alone. Avoid installing unknown cleanup tools or deleting evidence before the support team has assessed the situation. Use a controlled route for containment and restoration.
Include suppliers and integrations in the plan
List software suppliers, outside administrators and APIs that can reach important data or systems. Record who approves changes and receives security notices. Review account privileges when an integration is retired. Ask important suppliers about notification and recovery responsibilities. Your business needs its own decision owner even when a security problem originates outside your organisation.
Use AI tools within an approved boundary
Identify approved tools, data they may receive and tasks that require human review. Include staff who experiment with unapproved tools so the actual workflow is understood. Do not upload confidential records simply to test a new feature. Evaluate the usefulness and risks of an AI-assisted security tool through representative scenarios, logging and controlled approvals instead of relying on promotional claims about autonomous protection.
